The Red Sea ReefMat 500 is an automatic fleece roller filter that captures detritus before it breaks down in your reef aquarium. Rated for saltwater systems up to 130 gallons with a maximum flow capacity of 1,580 GPH, it replaces messy filter socks with a smart drive unit that advances clean fleece only when it's needed.
Why Choose the ReefMat 500?
Plug-and-play installation with multiple sump setup options
Solid-state water level sensors (internal and external) with no moving parts
Integrated 350 mL media basket for additional chemical filtration
Kink-resistant corrugated inlet hose with a USA/Metric PVC connector
Easy fleece replacement when a roll runs out
Flexible Sump Installation
The ReefMat 500 arrives fully assembled, straight out of the box. It is designed to hang on a sump wall to save space, and it also includes mounting legs so you can place it anywhere in your sump with room available. Both the drive unit and the inlet hose can be positioned on either side of the unit, so the fleece roller filter adapts to almost any sump layout.
Smart Monitoring With the ReefBeat App
The ReefMat's smart drive unit connects to Red Sea's ReefBeat app, one interface for all of Red Sea's smart devices. ReefBeat sends notifications when the fleece needs maintenance, and also if the fleece gets stuck or torn. If an error occurs, the motor stops feeding fleece until the issue is resolved. The End of Roll Monitor tracks your daily average use and shows how many days remain before the roll runs out, so you can order a replacement ahead of time.
How Long Does a ReefMat 500 Roll Last?
The ReefMat 500 includes one 28 m fleece roll. Each roll should last roughly 5–8 weeks on a moderately stocked 80-gallon reef system. Bare-bottom tanks typically use fleece faster, and usage may be significantly higher for the first few weeks while your system adjusts to the new level of mechanical filtration. Red Sea ReefMat 500 replacement rolls are available when you need them.
